Human Powered Vehicle at Energy Breakthrough

The Energy Breakthrough is a joint initiative of and the Country Education Partnership (CEP) and the Central Goldfields Shire Council (CGSC).

Since 1991, the Energy Breakthrough has provided opportunities for students, teachers, parents and local industry to work together to design and construct a vehicle, a machine or innovation in technology that will represent an ‘energy breakthrough’.

The program is unique in that all teams must compete across three areas of assessment: Design and Construction, Display and Presentation and Trials.

The Energy Breakthrough isn’t just a once-a-year event. School groups work throughout the year to design, build and test machines within detailed specifications.

Our Year 6 students have been working hard towards the race day, learning how to drive our viehcles, maintain and improve the designs, fine tuning the structure and pit stops.

We were blown away to learn that one of our teams also took out runner's up in their division, at last week's Energy Breakthrough event! Congratulations again to students on their outstanding participation in this event and to the adults and sponsors that helped make this such a success. We were all so proud of our students, and the way their supported each other to do and be their best, and I'm sure they will be talking about this experience for many years to come!
